Just days ago, on March 25, 2025, the El Cajon City Council unanimously adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism — a major step forward in the fight against hate.
This achievement was led by Liat Cohen–Reeis, Director of the Antisemitism Task Force at StandWithUs, who rallied a broad coalition of local leaders, allies, and residents. Voices of support included Nicole Murray-Ramirez, chair of the San Diego Human Relations Commission, and Fabienne Perlov of the ADL, both emphasizing the power of standing together.
Despite some resistance from individuals attempting to downplay antisemitism, the strong turnout and unanimous vote reflected a clear community consensus: hate has no home in El Cajon.
